Art Historian Hedgehog

9 notes

Anonymous asked: I've just started my Art History classes at university, and I feel so... lost. I've always loved art, I was very good in my art history class, I hunt down museums on trips like nobody else, but somehow everyone at college knows more than me. I even have trouble understanding some of your hedgehog posts :( Is it just not meant to be?

Read. Read everything. Read it again. Think about what you read, then read more. Write it down. Tell other people about what you’ve read, about what you talk about in class. And don’t forget, everyone feels this way about stuff in college.

Even Miss H felt that way in many of her classes, all the way through undergrad and grad school, and now in her current work. I don’t even get all the hedgehog posts, so I look them up and read about them. Some of them I immediately forget because they don’t really interest me, and some I keep looking back into. I bet there’s something, though, that you know like the back of your hand- an artist, a piece of art, an idea, and that will come up and you will blow everyone else out of the water.

Until then, read.
